Alabama State football defeated by UAPB in Turkey Day Classic

The 98th annual Turkey Day Classic ended in gut-wrenching fashion for Alabama State football.

The Hornets, who trailed 13-0 at halftime, rallied to take a third-quarter lead on Arkansas-Pine Bluff. But Kayvon Britten’s 14-yard touchdown run with 49 seconds left proved decisive in the Golden Lions’ 19-14 win, spoiling the finale of Eddie Robinson Jr.’s first season as ASU’s coach.

Alabama State (6-5, 4-4 SWAC) ended the season on a two-game losing streak. The Hornets gained a season-high 497 yards but couldn’t consistently turn them into points.

The Golden Lions (3-8, 1-7 SWAC) snapped their eight-game losing streak and won their first game over an FCS opponent this season.
