Bowdoin Set to Host NCAA Men’s Soccer Regional This Weekend – Info Here!

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men’s soccer team will host an NCAA Division III Tournament First/Second Round regional at Pickard Field on Saturday and Sunday, November 11-12.
The Polar Bears (11-1-4) will play U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (11-4-6) in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at 11:00 a.m., followed by Babson (15-3-2) and Vassar (9-3-5) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday’s winners will me on Sunday in the second round at 1:00 p.m.
Tickets will be available at the field and will be $6 for students, $3 for seniors, students and children. Bowdoin students will be free with ID. Ticket sales will be cash-only and fans are encouraged to arrive early to the 11:00 a.m. game in order to avoid conflicts with the NCAA Cross Country Regional that is also taking place at Pickard Field on Saturday.

Bowdoin will be making its ninth NCAA Tournament appearance all-time and first since 2017…The Polar Bears last hosted an NCAA Tournament regional in 2010, when they advanced to the semifinals of the national tournament…Bowdoin earned an at-large bid following a first-place finish in the NESCAC regular season, before falling in penalty kicks in the opening round of the conference tournament to Connecticut College and settling for an at-large bid to NCAA’s…ranked eighth nationally heading into the tournament, the Polar Bears became the first NESCAC team since 2008 to sweep the league’s major awards as defender Dylan Reid (Player of the Year), midfielder Tyler Huck (Rookie of the Year) and head coach Scott Wiercinski (Coach of the Year) were all recognized…Reid, midfielder Julian Juantorena and goaltender Michael Webber were all named as First Team selections…Bowdoin led the NESCAC in goals against average and currently stands third nationally at 0.37 goals/game…the Polar Bears allowed six goals all year, including two in the month of October, when they had a scoreless streak of over 613 minutes…in eight prior appearances, Bowdoin is 4-5-4 in NCAA Tournament play.
Bowdoin has not played the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy or Vassar. The Polar Bears have faced Babson 22 times in its series history, going 13-5-4 against the Beavers. The teams have not played since 2016.
