Georgia football vs Georgia Tech opening line revealed for Week 13 matchup

No. 1 Georgia is preparing to take on Georgia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 26, with kickoff set for Noon ET, and ESPN set to broadcast the game. Georgia is coming off a 16-6 road win over Kentucky and Georgia Tech is coming off a 21-17 road win over North Carolina. Georgia, whose record last season was 14-1 with a nation-leading 28.4-point margin of victory, went 10-5 against the spread in 2021, with a +7.3 margin against the spread that was good for seventh-best in the country. Georgia is 6-5 against the spread this season, with a -0.6 margin against the spread.

The opening line for the Week 13 matchup has been released and Circa Sports has Georgia as a 33-point home favorite over Georgia Tech. FanDuel sportsbook has the line at -35.5 in favor of Georgia. Georgia is given a 98.7 percent chance of winning the game by ESPN’s FPI.  Georgia leads, 69–41–5, having won the last four games by a combined score of 180-35 over the Yellow Jackets.

After building a 16-point lead by the third quarter of Saturday’s game against Kentucky, the Georgia Bulldogs held on late to ensure they’d head home with another hard-earned SEC win under their belts.

No. 1 Georgia held off a late Kentucky rally by delivering crucial stops on the Wildcats’ final two drives to hold on for a 16-6 road victory. Points were hard to come by on this night for the Bulldogs, which ultimately found three Jack Podlesny field goals and a Kenny McIntosh rushing touchdown to be enough to top Kentucky.

“I was really proud of our guys tonight with the resiliency and composure and the toughness they showed,” Kirby Smart said after the game. “We knew it would be this kind of game. We talked about it all week. We actually showed clips from the last time we came up here in terms of the number of snaps played and the shrinking of the game which I think was smart by Mark to keep the game tight and lower the number of possessions. Under those conditions, you’re going to play games like this. Really proud of when our guys backs were against the wall, how they came out fighting in what they do. Certainly could have played better in the red area. We could have stopped some drives defensively where we gave them a couple of conversions and penalties and things. I give Kentucky a lot of credit for bouncing back and being a really physical football team. We won the line of scrimmage tonight which we had to do.”

As a result of Saturday’s action, Georgia beat Kentucky for the 13th straight time and sealed an undefeated record in SEC play this season, only the 11th time that’s happened in program history. Now they will prepare for Georgia Tech.

“I don’t know a lot of about them,” Kirby Smart said after the game. “Obviously, we broke them down a lot in the offseason. I’ve got a lot of respect for Brent. I know Brent well, I’ve known him for a long time. I respect the rivalry. I look forward to going and preparing for them. I look forward to honoring these seniors in the class, one that has a chance to be the winningest class that’s ever had a chance to play at Georgia, and they had a COVID year.”
